Swiss Climate Research is a consortium of leading Swiss institutions in Climate and Climate Change research. Swiss Climate Research emerged from the National Center of Excellence in Climate Research (NCCR Climate 2001-2013, Swiss National Science Foundation). Founder members of Swiss Climate research are the Oeschger Centre for Climate Change Research, University of Bern (www.oeschger.unibe.ch), the Center for Climate Systems Modeling at ETHZ (www.c2sm.ethz.ch/), MeteoSwiss (www.meteoswiss.admin.ch) and ProClim of the Swiss Academy of Sciences (www.naturalsciences.ch/organisations/proclim).
Swiss Climate Research is committed to continuing education. The flagship events are the Swiss Climate Summer Schools that are jointly organized and have taken place since 2002. The Summer Schools are open to young researchers worldwide. Participation is highly competitive and limited to 70 participants.

The 22nd Swiss Climate Summer School is focusing on the theme “Climate Change: From the Dawn of the Anthropocene to Options for the Future”. This theme has been chosen due to its paramount importance in terms of both scientific challenges and pressing societal concerns. Always with a focus on understanding the system, mapping the options, and communicating action, the specific topics include:
This summer school addresses Early Stage Researchers from the climate, engineering, social and economic sciences, humanities and law. In addition to keynote lectures from internationally renowned experts and extensive time for discussions and poster sessions, two half days will be spent with workshops in smaller groups and hands-on practical work. An excursion will lead us to a scenic place with glaciers in the mountains. All Summer School participants are expected to present a poster of their research.
